Holiday Favorites with Austin Flair

On Sunday, December 11, 2011, at 3 pm, the Austin Civic Orchestra presents, Holiday Favorites with Austin Flair. Featuring two of Austin’s finest musical talents, Dan Welcher and Suzi Stern, the concert will be performed in the Bates Recital Hall, located on the campus of The University of Texas at Austin. As always, families are encouraged to attend this fun afternoon event.

Dan Welcher will switch hats from composer to narrator to perform the perennial favorite, Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf.  Jazz vocalist Suzi Stern will lend her velvet voice to White Christmas and will perform a special arrangement of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, created exclusively for the Austin Civic Orchestra by her husband, composer and jazz pianist, George Oldziey.

Other musical selections include: A Christmas Festival, Troika from Lt. Kije Suite, Christmas at the Movies, and O Holy Night.
