2007-2008 ACO Composition Contest

• This contest is open to composers who live in the United States.
• Entries must be no longer than 10 minutes performance length.
• Entries do not need to be submitted as premieres.
• Only one entry per composer, please.
• The winning entry will be performed sometime during the 2007-2008 ACO concert season.
• There is no monetary award for winning this competition.
• Composers should keep in mind that the winning entry will be performed by a civic (non-professional) orchestra with approximately 2-3 hours rehearsal time.
• The ACO is a standard symphonic orchestra with the folliwng core instrumentation:
  
  • 40 strings - 20 violins, 8 violas, 8 celli, 4 doublebasses
  • Full winds (possible extras: english horn, bass clarinet, saxophone)
  • 4-6 percussion
  • Harp
  • Piano/Keyboard
• Entries with vocal parts, narrator, electronic, or multimedia needs will NOT be considered; nor will concerti.
• Composers must submit a full, legible score with a CD recording of a live or digital rendering of the composition.
