
2007-2008 ACO Composition Contest
Details are provided below. For more information, contact

- This contest is open to composers who live in the United States.
- Entries must be no longer than 10 minutes performance length.
- Entries do not need to be submitted as premieres.
- Only one entry per composer, please.
- The winning entry will be performed sometime during the 2007-2008 ACO
concert season.
- There is no monetary award for winning this competition.
- Composers should keep in mind that the winning entry will be performed
by a civic (non-professional) orchestra with approximately 2-3 hours
rehearsal time.
- The ACO is a standard symphonic orchestra with the folliwng core
instrumentation:
- 40 strings - 20 violins, 8 violas, 8 celli, 4 doublebasses
- Full winds (possible extras: english horn, bass clarinet,
saxophone)
- 4-6 percussion
- Harp
- Piano/Keyboard
- Entries with vocal parts, narrator, electronic, or multimedia needs will
NOT be considered; nor will concerti.
- Composers must submit a full, legible score with a CD recording of a
live or digital rendering of the composition.
- Entries must be postmarked by August 1, 2007 and sent to:
