Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: How long do your concerts last?
A: Typically they run from 1 1/2 to 2 hours with one intermission. Our Children's Concert will usually run a little bit shorter lasting from 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

Q: Where are the concerts?
A: The ACO performs in various venues around Austin. Be sure to check our current season schedule to see times, locations, and programs.

Q: Can I buy tickets in advance? Are tickets for your concerts still available?
A: Currently the ACO sells tickets at the door of all concerts and we do not sell them in advance. The seating capacity for most concerts runs about 400 and we generally have enough space. For the best seats, we suggest arriving 15-30 minutes before the concert start time as we have an open seating policy.

Q: Are your concerts appropriate for children?
A: Yes! We cater to kids for many of our concerts including the annual Children's Concert in February and our Pearl Amster Youth Concerto Festival in March, which both are specifically designed for a young audience. Our annual free Zilker Park outdoor Concerts are also very appropriate for families with children often dancing to the music. Another great choice would be our annual Holiday Benefit Concert that includes festive holiday carols and well-known favorites such as "Sleigh Ride" and "Jingle Bells". One often hears of the benefit of exposing children (even infants) to classical music, so we like to think of all our events as kid-friendly.
